Filandia is a Colombian municipality belonging to the department of Quindío. The territory that today constitutes Filandia was inhabited before its foundation by a part of the Indian tribe of the Quimbayas. The lands of Filandia belonged to what the Spanish conquerors in 1540, initially called Province Quimbaya.
The town is situated at a height of 1923 meters above sea level. The town has a total area of 109 Km2
¿When it was founded?
The foundation of Filandia, also known years ago as a hamlet or village of Cartago, with the name of Nudilleros, took place on 20 August 1878, by settlers from Antioquia. 102 of these signed the act of foundation of the new region, these characteristics of peasants and artisans.
The 25 of August of 1892 stands Municipality and begins to operate with new legal entity, political and administrative authority.

Filandia is located 26 kilometers from Armenia. This municipality is located to the north of the department of Quindío.
It is bordered on the north by the department of Risaralda; on the south by the municipality of Circasia; on the east by the municipality of Salento and Circasia; on the west by the municipality of Quimbaya and Valle del Cauca.
